CBI Recovers Revolvers, Pistols, Incriminating Documents During Searches During Sandeshkhali Raids
The CBI operation in Sandeshkhali took place till Friday afternoon and resulted in the seizure of a huge cache of small arms and ammunition including foreign-made pistols.
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday recovered a large number of arms and ammunition including foreign-made pistols and revolvers during searches at Sandeshkhali in connection with the January attack on an Enforcement Directorate team by a mob allegedly instigated by now-suspended TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh.
During the searches, the probe agency recovered 3 foreign-made revolvers, one Indian revolver, one country-made pistol and bullets. The probe agency also said that many incriminating documents related to Former TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan have been recovered.
"During the searches, the CBI seized three foreign-made revolvers and one foreign-made pistol, one Indian revolver, one Colt official issue police revolver, one country-made pistol, 120 nine mm bullets, 50 cartridges of .45 calibre, 120 nine mm cartridges, 50 cartridges of .380 and eight cartridges of .32," the spokesperson said.
According to a report in PTI, teams of the Central Bureau Investigation (CBI), the bomb detection squad, the National Security Guard (NSG), the central paramilitary forces and the West Bengal Police were part of the searches at the village on the fringes of the Sunderbans in North 24 Parganas district.
CBI recovered a large number of arms and ammunition including foreign-made Postal & Revolvers during searches at Sandeshkhali in a case related to violence against Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials.

Some items suspected to be country-made bombs have also been recovered which are being handled and disposed off by the teams from NSG, a report in ANI said.
As per officials, the operation took place till Friday afternoon and resulted in the seizure of a huge cache of small arms and ammunition including foreign-made pistols.
The searches were launched in connection with the three FIRs that the CBI had registered related to the attack on the team of ED officials in Sandeshkhali on January 5 when it had gone to raid the premises of Sheikh in connection with an alleged ration scam.
