'Ram-Vaam-Shyam Joined Hands': Mamata Slams Oppn, Accuses BJP Of Trying To ‘Disrupt Peace’ In Sandeshkhali

Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee accused the BJP of disturbing peace in Sandeshkhali while also claiming that Opposition parties including the Congress and the Left joined hands against her government.

New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the BJP on Sunday, accusing the party of disturbing peace in the region without taking action against their own leaders. Addressing a public gathering, Banerjee asserted that her government always takes action in response to any wrongdoing.

She further highlighted the arrest of her party's block president and another leader Arabul arrested in Bhangar, contrasting it with the lack of action against BJP leaders allegedly involved in the violence.  She also accused the BJP of being "anti-Bengali, anti-women, anti-farmer, and anti-dalit," asserting that they were using agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to intimidate her government, reported news agency ANI.

"First the ED, then the BJP, and then the media. They are trying to disrupt peace there [Sandeshkhali]. If there are any allegations, we will take action, and whatever was taken forcibly will be returned", ANI quoted Bengal CM as saying at an event.

"They are using ED and CBI to threaten us. If the Election Commission is working on BJP's orders, keep this in mind that we have the right to fight and voice our opinion. Earlier, I had to face the torture of Left and now I have to face the torture of BJP", Banerjee remarked.

The Bengal Chief Minister took a jibe at the opposition by saying, "Ram-Vaam-Shyam [BJP, Left, Congress] have joined hands. They had joined hands a long time back. This is the same CPI(M) that used to play with deaths," as per ANI.

CM Mamata Slams BJP Over Treatment Of Protesting Farmers

Furthermore, Banerjee voiced solidarity with the ongoing farmers' protests, condemning the BJP's way of treating farmers. "We call the farmers 'Annadatas'. They are the providers of food for us but look at the way they [BJP] are treating them." She further added, "BJP is creating chaos everywhere and provoking one community against the other. Look at how Punjab, Delhi, and Haryana are burning", as per ANI.

CM Banerjee also criticised the handling of cases under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) by investigative agencies, alleging that proper procedures are not being followed.

"If you think by this you can win elections, you are wrong. Even Indira Gandhi did the same during the Emergency period but lost despite that," CM Mamata said.
