AAP Set To Make Electoral Debut, Announces Candidates In 7 Seats For Assembly Polls
AAP announced Fayaz Ahmad Sofi from Pulwama constituency, Mudassir Hassan from Rajpora, Sheikh Fida Hussain from Devsar, Mohsin Shafkar Mir from Dooru and Mehraj Din Malik from Doda.
The Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday announced making a political debut in Jammu and Kashmir as the party released a list of 7 candidates for the assembly elections in the Union Territory, scheduled to be held next month.
The party has announced a list of seven candidates- Fayaz Ahmad Sofi from Pulwama constituency, Mudassir Hassan from Rajpora, Sheikh Fida Hussain from Devsar, Mohsin Shafkar Mir from Dooru, Mehraj Din Malik from Doda, Yasir Shafi Matto from Doda West and Mudassir Azmat Mir from Banihal for the J&K elections

Jammu and Kashmir is going to polls for the first time since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. Omar Abdullah's NC and Congress are fighting the elections in alliance while Mehbooba Mufti's PDP and the BJP are going solo in the assembly polls.
AAP also released the list of of 40 star campaigners for the Jammu & Kashmir assembly elections, which included Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Sunita Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Manish Sisodia and AAP Ministers Atishi, Sanjay Singh, Gopal Rai and MP Raghav Chadha.

Meanwhile, the BJP's Central Election Committee met in New Delhi on Sunday evening to finalise the party's candidates for the upcoming assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir. PM Narendra Modi and BJP president JP Nadda were joined by other CEC members, including Home Minister Amit Shah, as they deliberated with party leaders from the Union territory. PTI sources said the leaders held deliberations for party candidates for over 50 seats in the UT.
Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases -- September 18, September 25 and October 1. The counting of votes will be held on October 4.
