Virat Kohli records special message for PV Sindhu
NEW DELHI: India skipper Virat Kohli congratulated ace shuttler P V Sindhu for storming into the finals of women's singles at he Rio Olympics.
Kohli, in a video posted on micro-blogging website Twitter, expressed hope that she would continue the same performance in the finals and clinch gold medal for India.
"I want to congratulate you for guaranteeing India's first silver medal at the (Rio) Olympics. You made the country so proud and today it's going to be a big clash. So, I wish you all the best," Kohli said in a video message from West Indies.
"I hope you bring God for the country. But no matter what happens, your're a champion. Good luck to you," he said.
Team India is currently in West Indies playing the final match of the Test series.
P V Sindhu will strive her very best to become the first-ever woman Olympic champion from India across all sporting disciplines when she takes on world no 1. Carolina Marin in the gold medal contest in women's singles badminton today.
Sindhu, on Thursday, scripted history by becoming the first Indian shuttler to reach the finals of the women's singles competition at the Rio Olympics as she stunned Japan's Nozomi Okuhara in straight games to assure India of at least a silver medal today.
The two-time bronze medallist at World Championship notched up a sensational 21-19 21-10 victory over the All England Champion from Japan in a pulsating semi-final that lasted 49 minutes.
