Conor McGregor, one of the biggest names in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and the world's highest-earning athlete was arrested in Dublin on Tuesday for road traffic offences. The 33-year old MMA fighter was detained by Dublin police while he was driving his Bentley Continental GT. The sportscar is valued at around €170,000.

McGregor's Bentley was also seized after the arrest, the Irish Independent reported. He was pulled over by gardai while travelling along the N4 between Lucan and Palmerstown

The former UFC champion spent his Wednesday in a court, trying to get bail. He was later released on bail, but will have to appear before Blanchardstown district court next month.

“Mr McGregor was driving to the gym when he was stopped by gardaí for alleged road traffic violations. He passed the drug and alcohol tests taken at the station," said McGregor's spokesperson to Irish Independent.

As per the Irish rules, the charge of dangerous driving carries a maximum punishment of a fine up to €5,000 or six months jail, or both.

The former UFC champion is no stranger to controversy as last year he punched an elderly man in an Irish bar in a dispute. Later the Irish star offered a guilty plea in the Dublin court and apologized to the victim. He was also charged €400 for speeding in 2017.

Conor has been planning a return to UFC. He has been missing from action since his loss to Dustin Piorier in July 2021.
