The roadmap for Indian cricket post Covid-19 has been drawn but none in the BCCI are willing to openly talk about it. Yet. In fact, BCCI has also tentatively drawn Team India's schedule for the remainder of the season
According to sources, Virat Kohli and his Team have a power-packed schedule beginning with three T20 match series when they travel to South Africa in late July-August. The nation, which has drawn up a 5 level lockdown withdrawal plan, has allowed for leisure activities, which includes sports at a later stage.
Team India will then host England in the ODI and T20 series as originally planned in the FTP calendar in August end or early September before looking to hold the IPL from mid-September to October in the likely possibility of the World Cup being pushed back.
Virat will then travel to Australia for a long drawn full series before winding it down with the T20 World Cup, which after its impending postponement, is likely to be held in February and March.
BCCI will be a major player for the resurrection of world cricket, given its financial muscle, and almost all the countries are looking at ways and means to ensure that the series with India goes ahead with government support.
South Africa and Australia have both sought and got government clearance for the proposed tour. South Africa and Australia are both on the brink of bankruptcy and a tour of India could help both countries earn anywhere in region of $200-400 million dollars.
Although the exact terms and conditions of the tour are yet to be worked out, it is understood that series maybe a TV-only event and not include spectators and under the condition that countries allow their players for the IPL in September while pushing the case in the ICC forum.
Sri Lanka, which was supposed to host India for a T20 series will also be seeking a short window for a series in between.
