Sports fraternity wishes Eid Mubarak

New Delhi [India], August 22 (ANI): As the nation is celebrating Eid-Al-Azha with great religious zeal and fervour, the sports fraternity extended their warm and cordial wishes on the auspicious occasion.

From cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar to former German football player Mesut Ozil, all of them took to their social media handles to pour in their Eid wishes.

Tendulkar took to his Twitter handle and said, "Eid Mubarak to everyone, in India and around the world, celebrating the festival of Eid al-Adha. May the blessings of the almighty always be with you."

Former cricketer Mohammad Kaif also tweeted, "Wishing everyone a happy and blessed Eid-ul Adha. May Allah shower all with happiness and peace."

Former Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis also extended his wishes on the occasion, "May Allah's blessings be with you today and always #EidUlAdha Mubarak everyone."

Afghan teen sensation Rashid Khan wrote on the micro-blogging site, "I want to wish all my family, friends and fans around the world a very happy and peaceful #AkhtarMubarak #EidMubarak."

Indian tennis star Sania Mirza also conveyed her wishes and wrote on her Twitter handle, "Eid -Ul Adha Mubarak to everyone celebrating today .. peace ,love and happiness."

Former German footballer Mesut Ozil posted a picture of himself on the micro-blogging site and said, "Eid Mubarak to all of you celebrating today. ???? #EidAlAdha #M1Ö."

Eid al-Adha, also known as 'Sacrifice Feast' and 'Bakri Eid' honours the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son, as an act of obedience to God's command. Muslims sacrifice a sheep or goat and share the meat with their family, neighbours and the poor on this occasion. (ANI)
