Rohit, MI Overwhelm GT To Book Qualifier 2 Berth vs PBKS

Openers Rohit Sharma and Jonny Bairstow gave MI a dream start, unleashing an aggressive assault on Gujarat's bowling attack.

A complete team performance from Mumbai Indians powered them to a 23-run victory over Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2025 Eliminator. With this win, MI have advanced to Qualifier 2, where they will face Punjab Kings. The winner of that clash will meet Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final.

After winning the toss, MI captain Hardik Pandya opted to bat first - and his decision paid off in spectacular fashion. Mumbai Indians posted a big total of 229/5, putting Gujarat under immense pressure in this knockout clash.

Explosive Start by Rohit and Bairstow

Openers Rohit Sharma and Jonny Bairstow gave MI a dream start, unleashing an aggressive assault on Gujarat's bowling attack. The duo stitched together an 84-run stand in just over 7 overs. Bairstow played a fiery knock, smashing 47 off 22 balls with 4 boundaries and 3 sixes before being dismissed.

Suryakumar, Tilak, and Hardik Keep the Momentum Going

Suryakumar Yadav carried the momentum forward with a fluent 33 off 20 balls. Though his stay was cut short by Sai Kishore, his innings kept the run rate high. Tilak Verma added quickfire runs, hammering 25 off just 11 deliveries, before falling to Mohammad Siraj. Skipper Hardik Pandya finished strong with an unbeaten cameo of 22 off 9 balls.

Rohit Sharma Stars with the Bat

The standout performer of the innings was Rohit Sharma, who made the most of two dropped chances early on. He anchored the innings with a scintillating 81 off 50 deliveries, laced with 9 fours and 4 sixes. His knock was instrumental in propelling MI to their mammoth total.

Gujarat Bowlers Struggle

For Gujarat Titans, Prasidh Krishna and R. Sai Kishore were the pick of the bowlers, taking two wickets each. Mohammad Siraj chipped in with one wicket but was expensive.
