NEET Debate: Government Says Ready For Discussion, Seeks Rules and Schedule Agreement

The government has reiterated that it is ready for a detailed discussion on the NEET paper leak issue in Parliament but has stressed that the debate must take place according to established a proper framework, including deciding the rule under which the discussion will be conducted, the date, and the duration of the debate. They urged all party leaders to sit with the Speaker and finalise the rules and procedures. The statement comes amid continued disruptions between the government and opposition over the demand for an immediate discussion. Government representatives said that parliamentary debates require a proper framework, including deciding the rule under which the discussion will be conducted, the date, and the duration of the debate. They urged all party leaders to sit with the Speaker and finalise the structure so that a meaningful discussion can begin without further delay. The government maintained that the NEET issue is a serious concern for students and the nation and said it wants to present details of the steps taken after allegations of paper leaks emerged. It also said that Parliament is the appropriate platform to inform citizens about investigations, actions taken, and future measures related to examination reforms. The ruling side rejected allegations that it is avoiding discussion and claimed that it has expressed willingness for a debate from the beginning. Officials said that a detailed discussion would allow both the government and opposition to present their views and address concerns related to students’ future. However, differences remain over the timing and conditions of the debate, with the opposition pushing for immediate discussion and accountability measures. The government has urged opposition parties not to disrupt parliamentary proceedings and instead decide the format of the debate through consultations.
