Andre Russell Nears Major IPL Milestone, Just 14 Runs Short

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star Andre Russell is just 14 runs away from surpassing former KKR batter Robin Uthappa in elite list.

The 18th season of the Indian Premier League kicks off today, with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) facing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

KKR vs RCB IPL 2025 match is set to begin at 7:30 PM IST. KKR's star all-rounder Andre Russell is on the brink of a mega milestone, needing just 14 runs to etch his name further into the franchise's history.

Andre Russell set to surpass Uthappa

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star Andre Russell is just 14 runs away from surpassing former KKR batter Robin Uthappa and becoming the franchise's third-highest run-scorer in IPL history.

Currently, Russell has 2,426 runs in 120 matches for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), while Uthappa accumulated 2,439 runs in 86 matches. If Russell reaches the mark, he will move up the all-time scoring charts for the team.

Gautam Gambhir still the leading run-scorer

Former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Gautam Gambhir remains the franchise's all-time leading run-scorer, scoring 3,035 runs in 108 matches, including 27 half-centuries. Nitish Rana, now with Rajasthan Royals, is fourth on the list with 2,199 runs in 90 matches.

With Russell's explosive batting style, fans will be eager to see if he can achieve this milestone in tonight's high-profile opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Rain to play spoilsport in KKR vs RCB IPL 2025 Opener?

IPL 2025 season opener between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Eden Gardens could face interruptions due to rain. As per the weather forecast, there's an 18% chance of rain during the day. At night, there's a 25% probability of rain.

If rain forces an abandonment of the KKR vs RCB clash, both teams will be awarded one point each, as per IPL league-stage rules.

Despite the rain threat, Eden Gardens has one of the best drainage systems in India - this allows the ground to dry quickly, making it possible to resume play soon after a rain delay.
