IPL Gets Postponed In A Year When RCB Had A Genuine Chance, Twitter Trolls

IPL 2021: Royal Challengers Bangalore was 3rd in the points table when the announcement of its suspension came through. Twitter fans took jibes at the IPL team comparing its situation to Premier League club, Liverpool.

IPL 2021: As BCCI indefinitely suspends the Indian Premier League (IPL), Twitteratis troll RCB fans as they had a great chance to win the trophy for the first time since 2008. Their luck is somewhat similar to the English team, Liverpool whose title-winning aspirations were put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic last year.

RCB fans face the brunt of the jokes from fans of other teams. They were 3rd in the IPL and the team combination that Virat Kohli had was one to look out for. Many experts believed that this year, Virat Kohli's men had the best shot at winning the title. With Maxwell, ABD, Padikkal and others performing well for RCB, the title hopes looked very bright; alas, the suspension order had to come in due to the increasing cases of Covid-19 among the layers in IPL 2021.

Take a look at some of the memes shared by Twitteratis:

In an official statement issued, BCCI said, "The Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in an emergency meeting has unanimously decided to postpone IPL 2021 season, with immediate effect."

"The BCCI does not want to compromise on the safety of the players, support staff and the other participants involved in organizing the IPL. This decision was taken keeping the safety, health and well-being of all the stakeholders in mind," the release said.

"These are difficult times, especially in India and while we have tried to bring in some positivity and cheer, however, it is imperative that the tournament is now suspended and everyone goes back to their families and loved ones in these trying times," the statement added.

The decision has come after several players reported being infected with the novel Coronavirus. Earlier today, wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha of SunRisers Hyderabad camp tested positive for Covid-19. On Monday, Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and three members of the Chennai Super Kings tested positive for the Coronavirus.
