IPL 2024 Playoffs Qualification Scenarios For SRH, CSK, LSG, RCB And DC

Apart from KKR, RR is the only team to have qualified for IPL 2024 playoffs. While two out of four IPL 2024 playoff spots are confirmed, five teams remain in contention for the remaining two spots.

IPL 2024 playoffs qualification scenario explained: For the first time in 17 years, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have finished the league stage at the top of IPL points table. The Shreyas Iyer-led side will now compete in Qualifier 1 on May 21 in Ahmedabad. With 19 points, KKR are confirmed table-toppers, as neither RR nor SRH, who can each reach a maximum of 18 points, can surpass them. This position gives KKR two chances to qualify for IPL 2024 Final.

Apart from KKR, RR is the only team to have qualified for IPL 2024 playoffs, though their final league stage position is yet to be determined. While two out of the four IPL 2024 playoff spots are confirmed, five teams remain in contention for the remaining two spots.

How SRH, CSK, LSG, RCB and DC can qualify for IPL 2024 Playoffs

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH): SRH need to win one of their remaining two league stage matches against GT (May 16) and PBKS (May 19) to qualify for IPL 2024 playoffs. If SRH wins both matches and KKR beats RR on Sunday (May 19), they will finish league stage as number two in standings. However, if SRH fails to win their remaining two league matches, they rely on Mumbai Indians beating LSG, CSK beating RCB, and themselves having a better net run rate than DC to secure a playoff spot.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK): CSK's path to IPL 2024 playoffs heavily depends on their upcoming match against RCB on Saturday (May 18). If CSK beat RCB, they will advance to the playoffs. Alternatively, CSK can also qualify for IPL 2024 playoffs if they lose to RCB by less than 18 runs and MI beats LSG on May 17.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG): LSG's qualification for IPL 2024 playoffs depends on these outcomes: SRH losing both their remaining matches by a big margin, CSK defeating RCB, and LSG winning against MI by a big margin on May 17. In this scenario, LSG, SRH, and DC would each have 14 points, but LSG's superior net run rate would help them finish league stage at the fourth position in IPL points table.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB): RCB's qualification for IPL 2024 playoffs depends on their performance against CSK on May 18. They will secure a playoff berth if they defeat CSK by more than 18 runs or chase down the target in less than 18.1 overs. However, a defeat or washout against CSK would result in RCB being knocked out of IPL 2024 playoffs race.

Delhi Capitals (DC): DC's qualification for IPL 2024 playoffs depends on these outcomes: MI defeating LSG, CSK beating RCB, and SRH losing both matches against GT and PBKS by a big margins.
