BCCI Punishes Hardik Pandya For Breaching IPL's Code Of Conduct

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) imposed a heavy fine on Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya for breaching IPL's Code of Conduct during MI vs LSG IPL 2024 match on Tuesday (May 1).

Hardik Pandya fined: Hardik Pandya's woes persist as Mumbai Indians (MI) succumb to yet another defeat, this time a four-wicket loss against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in MI vs LSG Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match 48 on Tuesday (May 1). Adding to troubles of the under-fire MI skipper, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has imposed a heavy fine on Pandya for breaching IPL's Code of Conduct.

Hardik Pandya has been hit with a whopping Rs 24 lakh fine by the BCCI for Mumbai Indians' slow over-rate during MI vs LSG IPL 2024 match. This marks the second instance of such an offense by Mumbai Indians (MI) in this year's IPL, prompting a harsher penalty, especially for captain Hardik Pandya.

Not just captain Hardik Pandya, even other MI players have been held accountable as each player has been slapped with a fine of either Rs 6 lakh or 25% of their individual match fees, whichever is lower.

"Mr Hardik Pandya, Captain, Mumbai Indians has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 48 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on April 30, 2024," a BCCI statement read.

"As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Pandya was fined INR 24 Lac. The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 Lac or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser."

IPL 2024 Playoffs qualification scenario for Mumbai Indians: All but over for Hardik Pandya & Co.

Under Hardik Pandya's leadership, Mumbai Indians (MI) find themselves in a tough spot in IPL 2024, occupying the bottom 9th spot on IPL 2024 points table, with a dismal record of three wins and seven losses and a poor net run rate of -0.272, further highlighting their struggles.

With their current position, it appears increasingly unlikely that the five-time IPL winners, Mumbai Indians (MI), will secure a spot in IPL 2024 playoffs.
