IPL 10: RPS name Tahir as replacement for injured Marsh

IPL 10: RPS name Tahir as replacement for injured Marsh New Delhi: Rising Pune Supergiant named South Africa spinner Imran Tahir as replacement for injured Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh ahead of IPL-10. Marsh had to leave the India tour midway after a suffering a shoulder injury. The all rounder then went through a conditioning surgery in Australia, which may keep him in the sidelines for about nine months. RPS, who picked up the highest paid player of 2017 IPL Auctions Ben Stokes, decided to strengthen their bowling department. "Australia and Rising Pune Supergiant all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was ruled out of the 10th edition of the VIVO IPL owing to a shoulder injury. As Marsh's replacement, the franchise have roped in South Africa leg-spinner Imran Tahir into the squad," the BCCI said in a statement. Interestingly, the No. 1 T20 world bowler went unsold in the 2017 IPL Player Auction despite keeping a base price as low as INR 50 lakh. As per the player regulations, RPS is allowed a replacement player from the RAPP (Registered Available Player Pool) list, and Tahir was in that list. Tahir was picked up by Delhi Daredevils in 2014 and across three editions of IPL the Pakistan-born leggie picked up 29 wickets in 20 matches.
