IND vs NZ, 2nd Test: India Five Wickets Away From Series Win; Axar, Ashwin Shine On Day 3

India vs New Zealand 2nd Test: On the third day of the Mumbai Test, India declared their second innings at 276 runs to give the visitors a target of 540 runs.

India vs New Zealand 2nd Test: The third day of the second test played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai was ruled by the host team, India. In reply to India's target of 540 runs, New Zealand lost five wickets for 140 runs at the end of the third day's play. At stumps, Henry Nickels returned unbeaten on 36 off 86 balls and Rachin Ravindra on 2 off 23 balls. R Ashwin took three wickets for India, while Axar Patel succeeded in getting one wicket.

Darrell Mitchell hits fifty

India declared their second innings at 276 for seven  In this way, adding a lead of 263 runs in the first innings, Team India set a target of 540 runs for New Zealand. In reply to this, the start of the visiting team was very poor.

Captain Tom Latham got out after scoring just 6 runs. He was sent to the pavilion by R Ashwin. This was followed by a 29-run partnership between Will Young and Darrell Mitchell. Young got out after scoring 20 runs in 41 balls with the help of four fours.

After this Darrell Mitchell started playing attacking cricket. He scored 60 runs in 92 balls. During this, seven fours and two sixes came off his bat. Veteran Ross Taylor could score only six runs and Tom Blundle returned to the pavilion without scoring any runs.

By the end of the third day's play, Rachin Ravindra returned unbeaten on two in 23 balls and Henry Nicholls for 36 runs in 86 balls.  Nichols has hit seven fours so far.

India declared innings for 276 runs

Earlier, India declared the second innings at 276 for seven.  Mayank Agarwal played an innings of 62 runs for India. On the other hand, Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara scored 47 runs each. 36 runs came off the bat of captain Kohli. In the end, Axar Patel played an explosive innings of 41 not out in just 26 balls.  During this, three fours and four sixes came off his bat.
