ICC T20I ranking: Virat Kohli remains on top; Glenn Maxwell jumps to third

Dubai: India’s star batsman Virat Kohli continues to be on top while Australian all rounder Glenn Maxwell made a huge jump to reach a career-best third position in the latest ICC T20 international rankings. Maxwell gained 16 places in the batsman’s rankings which was led by Virat Kohli with Australia’s Aaron Finch in second position. Kohli is comfortably placed with 820 points but Maxwell moved to 763 points, just eight less than Finch. Maxwell, who smashed breathtaking knocks of 145 not out and 66 against Sri Lanka in the two-match series in Pallekele and Colombo, which helped his side clinch the series 2-0, has leapfrogged Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi and Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan to become  the top-ranked T20I all-rounder. Sri Lankan captain Dinesh Chandimal has moved up four places to be at 60th position with his knock of 58 and four in the two matches while his team-mate Chamara Kapugedera has gained 18 slots to reach No. 72 in the batsman’s list. Tillakaratne Dilshan, a former top-ranked batsman (in June 2009) has finished his career at the 19th rank and in the all-rounder’s list he ended in the fifteenth position. The one-off T20 match at old Trafoord in which Pakistan beat England, has seen the visiting side’s Sharjeel Khan move up 28 places to No. 37, with his knock of 59 while his opening partner Khalid Latif’s unbeaten 59 has helped him climb 61 places to be at No. 120. In the bowler’s list, Australian seamer James Faulkner has jumped four spots to be at fifth with a career best rating of 672 points after  taking four wickets in the Sri Lanka series while Mitchell Starc’s four wickets in the two matches has helped him re-enter the top 20 list. In the ICC T20I team rankings, Australia has gained one slot to be at No. 5, moving from 110 to 114 points to go past England, which has slipped to 113 from 116 rating points after its loss in the one-off T20 against Pakistan.
