The All India Football Federation (AIFF) unveiled a 23-member Senior Women’s National Team on February 18 (Sunday), slated to compete in the Turkish Women’s Cup 2024 in Alanya, Turkey, from February 21 to 27, 2024. Following a week-long camp in Bangalore, the team is anticipated to reach Turkey on February 19 (Monday). Notably, India had previously participated in the tournament in 2019 and 2021.

AIFF Acting Secretary General Mr. M. Satyanarayan expressed that the Senior Women’s National Team are gearing up for the crucial Turkish Women’s Cup, marking their first appearance since the Olympic Qualifiers. A week-long preparation preceded their departure to Turkey, and he also expressed gratitude to Army units MEG and ASC for their cooperation during the camp.

Additionally, Bengaluru FC played a vital role in facilitating facilities, with MEG providing the training ground and ASC arranging a practice match. The tournament, featuring Estonia, Kosovo, and Hong Kong, holds significance for the team, aiming to make an impact after the Olympic Qualifiers.

“Our Senior Women’s National Team are going to play for the first time after the Olympic Qualifiers, which makes the Turkish Women’s Cup an important tournament for us,” he said.

“The players have had a week-long preparation before flying off to Turkey, and I, on behalf of the AIFF, would like to thank Army units MEG and ASC for their cooperation during the camp, and Bengaluru FC for helping us out in getting the facilities. While MEG provided their ground for the team’s training, ASC helped arrange a practice match,” he added.

In the four-team tournament, held in a round-robin format, Estonia, Kosovo, and Hong Kong will be the Blue Tigresses’ opponents. The table toppers will secure the title.
