Fit-again Maxwell to return for one-off England T20I

London [UK], June 27 (ANI): Australian right-hand batsman Glenn Maxwell, who was recently out of action due to a shoulder injury, is all set to make a return in the T20I side for the one-off match against England to be played on June 27 here at Edgbaston Cricket Ground.

The destructive batsman was forced to miss the last two matches of five-match ODI series against England after he sustained the injury on his shoulder while diving in the field at Trent Bridge.

The Tim Paine-led side, who slumped to an embarrassing 0-5 defeat at the hands of the hosts in one-day series, will be heading into the match on the back of six-match winning streak in T20 Internationals.

Moreover, Australia had also defeated England twice in February before emerging victorious in the T20I series, also featuring New Zealand.

And Australian T20I captain Aaron Finch assured that the team would not be carrying the baggage of ODI defeat into the T20 match.

"We had a debrief from the (ODI) series a couple of days ago and, not moved on as such, but we've put a little bit of that stuff to bed just for now. No doubt we'll revisit it when the time is right to start learning a little bit more and start moving forward as a one-day squad. But as a T20 team, I don't think a real lot needs to be said (to the players), cricket.com.au quoted Finch, as saying.

"We've got some fresh faces coming in to bring some new energy, guys that have got no baggage hanging over from the one-day series at all. It's a great opportunity to get out there so quickly after the one-day series and strut our stuff in a format we've been really successful at recently," he added.

Meanwhile, England assistant coach Paul Farbrace confirmed that in-form batsman Jos Buttler would open the batting in the match.

"In 120-ball innings, you want to get your best strikers facing as many balls as possible. In the form, he's in and the way he is playing in makes sense to get him at the top of the order," Farbrace said. (ANI)
