FIFA World Cup 2022: Who Is The Referee For The Argentina vs France Final

Marciniak is set to become the first-ever from Poland to officiate in a World Cup final.

Ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2022 final, it has now been confirmed that Poland's Szymon Marciniak will be the referee for the summit clash of the marquee event set to be played between Argentina and France at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar. 

With this, Marciniak is set to become the first-ever from Poland to officiate in a World Cup final. The 2022 World Cup final is scheduled to be played on Sunday (December 18). It was in the previous edition of the FIFA World Cup in 2018 that the Polish official had refereed his first World Cup fixture. Marciniak will be assisted by Pawel Sokolnicki and and Tomasz Listkiewicz. USA's Ismail Elfath and Poland's Tomasz Kwiatkowski will oversee the VAR.

Meanwhile, Qatar's Abdulrahman Al-Jassim will be the referee in the third place match between Croatia and Morocco at the Khalifa International Stadium on Saturday. His compatriots Taleb Al Marri and Saoud Ahmed Almaqaleh will assist him in his duties.  Brazilian Raphael Claus will be the fourth official for this contest.

What happened in the semifinals?

For the unversed, Argentina had defeated Croatia in the first semifinal with the help of a brace from Julian Alvarez and a goal from the spot from talisman Lionel Messi. In the second semifinal, it was France who got the better of Morocco. While it took only 5 minutes for the Les Blues to take the lead with Theo Hernández netting a goal, Randal Kolo Muani scored the winner in the 79th minute.

Winner of the FIFA World Cup 2022 to get $42 million: Reports

Meanwhile, a media report has emerged claiming that the winner of the FIFA World Cup 2022 will get a massive amount as prize money. The team could receive an amount of $42 million. The runners up of the tournament will also get a handsome prize money of  $30 million. The winner of the third-place match will get $27 million while the team that finishes fourth will receive $25 million.
