FIA President Mohammad Bin Sulayem Expected To Attend Formula E Race In Hyderabad

Bin Sulayem, who took over the reins of the FIA from Jean Todt in December 2021, is expected to attend the race of the all-electric series.

New Delhi: In a latest update with regards to the Formula E Race In Hyderabad, it is being learnt that FIA President Mohammad Bin Sulayem has been invited for the race scheduled on February 11.

The president of the world governing body for four-wheel racing, who took over the reins of the FIA from Jean Todt in December 2021, is expected to attend the race of the all-electric series alongside many other dignitaries from within and outside the country.

"He has been invited to attend the race and he is expected to attend," a Formula E source told PTI on Wednesday.

The organisers of the race -- Greenko and Telangana government -- are racing against time to ready the 2.83km-long street circuit. Most of the infrastructure will be temporary but final touches are being given to the team garages, which will be a permanent structure around the track. Formula E is the first FIA world championship-status event taking place in India since the Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix in 2013.

MotoGP, the pinnacle of two-wheel racing, is scheduled to host its first round in India in September.

Prior to the Formula E race, it is being reported that at eight racing cars have arrived in Hyderabad. Reports suggest that these cars were packed in 83 boxes and remain packed at the Great Hyderabad Adventure Club Terminal. The package weighed around 90 tons.

Earlier, traffic restrictions which will be implemented from February 5 around the Hussain Sagar area of Hyderabad, were announced. The Traffic Police also imposed traffic restrictions in the city owing to the Telangana Assembly budget session which will commence on February 6.

As per these fresh guidelines, vehicles won't be allowed on the Telugu Talli flyover to Khairatabad flyover. In addition, traffic will also not be allowed from Mint compound to I Max.

It is pertinent to note that Ace Nxt Gen Formula E and Government of Telangana are in a partnership for four years which meansthat the championship will be organised in India until 2026.
