Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Jakub Vadlejch concluded at the 2nd spot with a best throw of 88.63m while world Champion Anderson Peters finished third with a best throw of 85.88m.

Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra started his 2023 season by winning the 10-man men's javelin field at the Doha Diamond League on Friday. Neeraj was the first Indian who won the Diamond Trophy last year and kickstarted the tournament this year by registering a throw of 88.67m.

Neeraj's Throw In DOHA

  • 1st attempt: 88.67m
  • 2nd attempt: 86.04m
  • 3rd attempt: 85.47m
  • 4th attempt: Foul
  • 5th attempt: 84.37m
  • 6th attempt: 86.52m

The first throw of Neeraj was his best throw of the tournament as he continued the tradition. Neeraj did not pass the 90m landmark and could not set a new personal best (89.94m) as the conditions at the iconic stadium were not favorable for big throws.

Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Jakub Vadlejch concluded at the 2nd spot with a best throw of 88.63m while world Champion Anderson Peters finished third with a best throw of 85.88m. The tournament took place at the Qatar Sports Club on Friday. Ever since Chopra won the historic gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, there have been a lot of talks going around in the sport from a lot of Indians.

Before the 2023 season opener for Chopra, the ace javelin thrower has given a clue that he may break the hallowed 90-mark at this event, a landmark that he has set for himself for quite some time now but hasn't yet got there. Neeraj Chopra's personal best currently stands at 89.94m but he would be itching to open a brand new season with a personal best that surpasses the target he has in his mind for himself. He also sealed victory in the Diamond League finale in Zurich and become the first Indian athlete to reach the milestone.
