Zaheer Khan to replace Malinga as bowling mentor for Mumbai Indians: Reports
According to media reports, former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan is all set to replace Sri Lanka bowling sensation Lasith Malinga as a bowling mentor
According to media reports, former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan will be seen associating with Mumbai Indians in a mentoring role. The 40-year-old is all set to replace Sri Lanka bowling sensation Lasith Malinga as a bowling mentor. However, it is possible that Malinga, who had taken up a mentor role with Mumbai after going unsold in the last season, might return to play again.
Apart from Rohit-led Mumbai, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils are the two teams Malinga has been part of but still hasn’t managed to end up on the winning side so far for any team.
Some media reports also claim that Malinga wants to play in the upcoming season of the India Premier League so that he could press his case for the World cup 2019.
“It is expected. Malinga has been playing other leagues in the world. He had even played for Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup, and he wants to test himself in the Asia Cup which precedes the World Cup. He wants to play at the World Cup to be match fit for the World Cup.” an IPL insider said as quoted by the report in Mumbai Mirror.
Khan, who had retired from international cricket in 2015, had been a player cum mentor for the Delhi Daredevils. IPL 2019 could be his first time as an official mentor.
