WTC Points Table Update: How IND vs AUS Gabba Test Result Could Boost India's World Test Championship Hopes

IND vs AUS 3rd Test in Gabba's Brisbane is a high-stakes encounter for both teams. The Gabba Test holds the potential to reshape World Test Championship (WTC) standings yet again.

The Border-Gavaskar series between India and Australia has added a new level of excitement to World Test Championship (WTC) standings. With the race for WTC final approaching its climax, each match in IND vs AUS Test series has brought big changes to the points table.

India, needing an outright series win to secure their spot in WTC Final, finds themselves in a critical position. While India's emphatic win in Perth (1st test) provided a much-needed boost, Australia's triumph in Adelaide reclaimed the second spot for the hosts.

The upcoming IND vs AUS 3rd Test in Gabba's Brisbane is a high-stakes encounter for both teams. The Gabba Test holds the potential to reshape World Test Championship (WTC) standings yet again.

If India defeats Australia in Gabba in IND vs AUS 3rd Test to take 2-1 lead in BGT, they will move back to the number two position in WTC standings. India's win percentage will rise to 59.80, while Australia will drop to third with a win percentage of 56.67.

India were at the second spot in WTC points table before losing the 2nd Test in Adelaide. The loss pushed them down to number three. India is currently placed at number three in WTC points table with 110 points and PCT of 57.29

If India beats Australia in 3rd Test, South Africa will remain unaffected, retaining their top (number 1) spot. India's win in the 3rd Test would keep them in strong contention for a spot in WTC final.

What if Australia wins IND vs AUS 3rd Test in Gabba

A win for Australia at the Gabba would further solidify their hold on the second position in WTC points table, boosting their win percentage to match South Africa's at the top. For India, however, a loss would keep them in third place, making their path to WTC final increasingly difficult, as they would need to rely on other results to qualify.

What a Draw Would Mean

If India vs Australia 3rd Test ends in a draw, the standings will remain largely unchanged. Australia's win percentage will hold at 58.89, while India's will remain at 55.88. For India to secure a direct path to the WTC final, they must win all three of their remaining three Test matches in IND vs AUS Test series. Winning only two of the remaining three Tests would leave their qualification hopes dependent on the performances of other teams.

IND vs AUS 3rd Test in Gabba is more than just another game in IND vs AUS Border-Gavaskar series—it's a turning point in the WTC race.
