World Cup 2019: Oshane Thomas marks World Cup debut with terrific spell against Pakistan
Thomas was right on the money from ball one and created a lot of discomfort for the Pakistani batsman with his express pace on the Trent Bridge pitch which offered a lot of bounce.
Oshane Thomas made a brilliant debut for the West Indies in World Cup cricket as he starred with 4 wickets to help his side bowl out Pakistan for paltry 105.
The tearaway seamer was right on the money from ball one and created a lot of discomfort for the Pakistani batsman with his express pace on the Trent Bridge pitch which offered a lot of bounce.
Thomas got into the act by dismissing Pakistan's most accomplished middle order batsman Babar Azam. The tearaway seamer then send shivers down the Pakistani middle order by sending Pakistan's veteran Mohammad Hafeez back to the pavilion.
Being the young turk in the Windies pace battery, his game changing spell inspired his senior partners in Russel and Holder to get into wicket taking mode. Thomas came back into the attack to polish off the Pakistani tail with wickets of Shadab Khan and Wahab Riaz.
It was a dismal show for Pakisan, who registered their second lowest score in World Cup history. None of the Pakistani batsman could reach the 50-run mark as West Indies chipped in with wickets on a regular basis to peg back the Pakistani batsman.
Lowest scores for Pakistan in World Cup:
74 vs England Adelaide 1992
105 vs West Indies Nottingham 2019*
132 vs Australia Lord’s 1999
132 vs Ireland Kingston 2007
134 vs England Cape Town 2003
Pakistan were bowled out in 21.4 overs for their lowest World Cup total since a paltry 74 against England at Adelaide in 1992, the year Imran Khan’s team went on to lift their only 50-overs crown.
