WATCH: Tension On Field! Jaiswal And Stokes Clash During IND-ENG 2nd Test

India went into lunch at 98 for 2, with Yashasvi Jaiswal anchoring the innings with a brilliant half-century. But it wasn’t just his bat doing the talking.

The second Test between India and England kicked off at Edgbaston, and while the cricket was intense, so was the on-field drama.

A heated moment unfolded during India’s first innings when Yashasvi Jaiswal and England captain Ben Stokes were seen exchanging words in the middle of the pitch. The short exchange hinted at a budding rivalry, and the video has since gone viral on social media.

Sparks Fly in Edgbaston

England won the toss and elected to bowl first. India went into lunch at 98 for 2, with Yashasvi Jaiswal anchoring the innings with a brilliant half-century. But it wasn’t just his bat doing the talking.

In the 17th over, Stokes — who was bowling — had a few things to say to Jaiswal. The young Indian opener didn’t back down and responded instantly, leading to a brief but charged moment between the two. While the situation didn’t escalate, the intensity between the two players was hard to miss.

Eventually, Jaiswal scored 87 runs off 107 balls before being caught by Jamie Smith off the bowling of Ben Stokes.

Short-Ball Tactic in Play

It appears England had a specific plan for Jaiswal — peppering him with short-pitched deliveries. Bowlers like Ben Stokes, Brydon Carse, Chris Woakes, and Josh Tongue all targeted him with rising deliveries, trying to unsettle the left-hander. Despite the strategy, Jaiswal showed resilience and composure at the crease.

India Lose Two Wickets in 10 Balls

India endured a late stumble on Day 1 of the first Test against England at Edgbaston, losing two key wickets—Rishabh Pant and Nitish Reddy—within the span of just 10 deliveries. At the time of writing this copy, the visitors have reached 218 for 5 after 63.2 overs, with Shubman Gill (65) and Ravindra Jadeja (2) holding the fort.
