WATCH: Sam Curran becomes youngest cricketer to claim IPL hat-trick

At 20 years and 302 days, Sam surpassed Rohit Sharma, who did this marvel against Deccan Chargers in the 2009 edition at 22 years and 6 days

English speedster Sam Curran caused havoc in Mohali with his maiden IPL hat-trick against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Monday. He returned with 4 for 11 in just 2.2 overs as his magnificent spell helped the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) pulling out a stunner. With this feat, Curran became the youngest cricketer to claim a hat-trick in the Indian Premier League. At 20 years and 302 days, Sam surpassed Rohit Sharma, who did this marvel against Deccan Chargers in the 2009 edition at 22 years and 6 days. The young Englishmen preyed on Harshal Patel, Kagiso Rabada and Sandeep Lamicchane to register the first hat-trick of the season. While Patel survived more than one delivery, Rabada and Lamichhane went for golden ducks. Here’s the video: Surprisingly, the 20-year-old couldn’t realise that he has achieved this milestone. “I didn't really know. The crowd got really loud, I couldn't hear myself. Ashwin told me to do what I do. Ryan Harris was standing at the third man region. Against the Iocal batters, I had to ask our players, where he hits. Shami got two amazing overs in the end which helped,” he said. In pursuit of 167, Delhi was placed comfortably at 144/2 with Rishabh Pant (39) and Colin Ingram (38) at the crease. Unfortunately, DC lost Ingram in the 18th and they lost track of their run-chase. Curran came into the attack in the final over closed the deal for Punjab.
