The Proteas ended a spree of losses in the tournament to give their fans something to cheer about in what has otherwise been a dismal campaign. The Proteas bowled out Sri Lanka for a paltry 204-run total courtesy an all-round bowling show by their seamers. While Rabada, Morris and Dwaine Pretorius were among the major wicket takers; ace leg spinner Imran Tahir produced another miserly spell giving away just 36 runs off his 10 overs. Tahir just dint have a good day with the ball on the green turf but also won many admirers off the field by helping out Sri Lankan leg  spinner Jeffrey Vandersay. After South Africa's clinical win, Tahir was seen imparting some valuable lessons to Vandersay on the art of spinning the ball. As Vandersay bowled leg spin, Tahir watched on to see how the ball came of the Lankan spinner's hands. It was not just Vandersay whom Tahir helped, he was more than happy sharing the tricks of the trade with fellow South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi Vandersay responded to the gesture to say it had been an ‘absolutely thrilling experience’ to receive some tips from Tahir. Meanwhile, Shamsi suggested he was more than happy to continue to play behind Tahir, who is set to head into retirement after this World Cup.
