We are just 11 matches away from the Super 8 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, taking place in the United States and the Caribbean Islands. This edition of the T20 World Cup has seen some big upsets and surprising eliminations already. Australia, India, South Africa, West Indies and Afghanistan have already secured their spots in the Super 8 stage. In contrast, the defending champions England and former champions Pakistan are facing difficulties and must win their remaining games while relying on favourable results in other matches to advance.

With rain expected to affect the remaining matches and three Super 8 spots still available, the league games have reached a crucial point. Here are the qualification scenarios for each group:

Qualification Scenario Of Teams In Group A

India: With six points, India have already qualified for the next round ahead of their final league game against Canada on Saturday.

USA: Must avoid defeat in their final game against Ireland to join India in the next round.

Pakistan: Despite beating Canada, they need Ireland to beat the USA and must win their final game against Ireland on Sunday.

Canada: Need to win their next game and hope both the USA and Pakistan lose their final games with a lower Net Run Rate (NRR).

Ireland: Despite a poor NRR, they have an outside chance. They need to win both remaining games by large margins to improve their NRR sufficiently.

Qualification Scenario Of Teams In Group B

Australia: Already qualified for the Super 8 stage with three wins in as many matches.

England: Need to win their remaining match and hope Australia beat Scotland.

Scotland: Can secure a place in the Super 8 by avoiding defeat against Australia, even if England win their final group game. Scotland are currently second with five points, while England are third with three, but England have a better NRR.

Namibia and Oman are eliminated.

Qualification Scenario Of Teams In Group C

Afghanistan: Will join West Indies in the Super 8 from Group C. They top Group C with six points, ahead of the tournament co-hosts only on NRR.

New Zealand, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea are eliminated.

Qualification Scenario Of Teams In Group D

South Africa: Led by Aiden Markram, have already qualified for the Super 8 fixtures.

Sri Lanka: Have crashed out of the tournament earlier than expected.

Bangladesh, Nepal, and the Netherlands: All are in contention for the final Super 8 slot from Group D.

Bangladesh: Need a win in their final game against Nepal to secure their passage. They are currently second with five points from three matches.

Netherlands: Despite losing to Bangladesh, they can still advance by winning their final game against Sri Lanka by a big margin and hoping Nepal lose one of their games and beat Bangladesh.

Nepal: Need to win both remaining games and hope the Netherlands lose to South Africa.
