Shoaib Akhtar Reveals Why He Bowled An Intentional Beamer At MS Dhoni During 2006 Test Match

Pakistan cricket team's former fast-bowler Shoaib Akhtar recalled an incident and make a shocking revelation regarding team India's star player MS Dhoni. World's fasted speedster Akhtar revealed that he once bowled an intentional beamer at India's greatest wicket-keeper batsman during a Test match between India and Pakistan in 2006 at Faisalabad. Akhtar revealed the reason behind him bowling the intentional beamer to Dhoni and said that he did that out of frustration. According to the former Pakistan speedster, he was not getting advantage or help from the flat and dry pitch and the former India captain was smashing him for runs all over the park. The 44-year-old also said he was playing that game in a lot of pain as his knees were completely destroyed since 1997. "My knees brought me to my knees. In 1997 my knees have completely given up, they had become useless. But I kept on fighting, kept playing with the help of injections. The fibula bone of my landing leg was broken when India toured Pakistan. MS Dhoni performed brilliantly in the Faisalabad Test, the wicket was completely flat. I had used injections to play the match and I was so much in pain that I decided this will be my last Test match. "My fibula bone was completely destroyed. I had bowled a really fast spell of 8-9 over and Dhoni showed up. I apologised to him for intentionally bowling a beamer. For the first time in my life I had bowled an intentional beamer. I shouldn't have done it. I regretted a lot. He was playing so beautifully, wicket was also slow. I was continuously bowling fast but he kept on smashing me. I think I got frustrated," Shoaib Akhtar told Aakash Chopra on the latter's YouTube channel.
