List Of Unique Records of Rohit Sharma in IPL

Rohit Sharma, considered amongst the greatest Indian cricketers ever, holds a unique portfolio when it comes to IPL, as his legacy remains untouched in the league. Read below.

Rohit Sharma, widely regarded as the greatest IPL captain alongside MS Dhoni, is truly an all-time great in Indian Cricket history. 'The Hitman' is the only player in cricket's history to score three ODI double-tons, and has already won ICC Champions Trophy and ICC T20 World Cup as the skipper of the Indian team.

With him holding a legendary international cricket portfolio, one can make the case for the same when it comes to IPL, as the former Mumbai Indians captain has won the most number of IPL titles (5 as captain, 1 as player).

Rohit Sharma has many IPL records to his name. Here's a look at some of them:

First Indian To Win 20 POTM Awards in IPL

During the IPL 2025 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rohit Sharma played a brilliant knock of 76 and stitched a commendable partnership with Suryakumar Yadav to guide Mumbai Indians (MI) to a convincing win. The 38-year-old batter was awarded the Player of the Match and became the first Indian to win 20 POTM awards in IPL history.

Only Player To Have 6000+ Runs and a Hat-Trick in IPL

Adding to his list of unique records, Rohit Sharma is the only player in IPL history to have both a hat-trick and over 6,000 runs. He picked up a memorable hat-trick in 2009 while playing for Deccan Chargers against Mumbai Indians. He crossed the 6,000-run mark in 2023 and now sits 2nd in the all-time IPL run-scorers list with 6,868* runs (as of April 27, 2025), only behind Virat Kohli, who leads the chart with over 8300+ runs.

Joint-Most Trophies as Captain and Player in IPL History

Rohit Sharma is the joint-most successful captain in IPL history, sharing the record with MS Dhoni. Both have led their teams to five IPL titles. Rohit guided Mumbai Indians (MI) to five championships in just 10 seasons as captain, while Dhoni achieved the same over 15 seasons.

Additionally, Rohit won an IPL title as a player with Deccan Chargers in 2009, making him one of only two players with six IPL trophies. The other is Ambati Rayudu, who won three titles with MI and three with Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Only Captain to have Two Fifties in IPL Finals

Rohit Sharma is the only captain in IPL history to score two fifties in IPL finals. He played a match-winning knock of 50 runs off 26 balls in the 2015 final, earning the Player of the Match award. He repeated his brilliance in the 2020 final, scoring 68 off 51 balls and guiding Mumbai Indians to a comfortable victory over Delhi Capitals.
