New Delhi: Social media keeps an individual updated with latest happening across the globe but sometimes it spreads hoax which make us difficult to fathom the situation. One such news made the rounds on the internet surrounding Umar Akmal and his death.

The talented Pakistan batsman was rumoured to be dead after getting caught in violent protest which broke out in Pakistan, following law minister Zahid Hamid’s resignation.

A picture of the victim, one who looks like the Pakistani hotshot, was circulated on the social media but Akmal himself put an end to all the rumours

The 27-year-old took to his Twitter handle to make public statement. Akmal tweeted, “Allhamdulillah I am safe n perfectly fine in Lahore all news coming from social media is fake And Insha Allah I will join #National20cup2017 #Semifinale

To give an evidence of his well being to fans, Umar posted a video and announced his return to the field.

The Lahore-born cricketer has been continuously ignored by the Pakistan Cricket Board after his fall-out with Coach Mickey Arthur just before the Champions Trophy in England.

However, he is working hard on his fitness and he is expected to play in semi finals of the National Cup on November 29.
