WATCH: Pat Cummins Becomes First Bowler To Take Hat-Trick In Consecutive T20 World Cup Matches

Pat Cummins hat-trick: Australia's Pat Cummins achieved a remarkable feat by taking a hat-trick for the second time in ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. After taking a hat-trick in Australia's Super 8 match against Bangladesh on Thursday, Cummins registered the feat once again in Australia's Super 8 match against Afghanistan on Sunday (June 23) by dismissing Rashid Khan, Karim Janat and Gulbadin Naib on three back-to-back deliveries.

This historic achievement makes him the first bowler ever to accomplish two hat-tricks in back-to-back T20 World Cup matches.

At the time of publication, Australia had lost five wickets for 88 runs in 12.5 overs and required 61 runs from 43 balls to secure victory.

Pat Cummins' hat-trick helped Australia restrict Afghanistan to 148/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Australia faced a strong start from Afghanistan, led by Rahmanullah Gurbaz (60 runs off 49 balls) and Ibrahim Zadran who (51 off 48 balls) forged a 118-run opening partnership.

Australia, however, staged a comeback, restricting Afghanistan's scoring rate effectively. Apart from Cummins, Adam Zampa claimed two wickets, with Marcus Stoinis adding one to their tally.
