Batter's Bat Breaks In Half, Resulting In Comical Dismissal During England's One Day Cup Match- WATCH

Matthew Lamb of Derbyshire was dismissed in a comical fashion when his bat broke while facing Jack Home, resulting in his dismissal on the same ball. The video of the incident has gone viral.

In a One Day Cup match between Derbyshire and Worcestershire in Derby on August 2 (Friday), Matthew Lamb experienced one of the most comical dismissals. The right-hander's bat broke while he was facing a delivery from Jack Home, leading to his dismissal for just 13 runs off 19 balls.

The incident occurred in the 34th over of Derbyshire’s innings. Lamb attempted a big shot towards deep mid-wicket. The bat broke and flew into the air along with the ball. The bat landed near mid-wicket, while Hishaam Khan completed the catch at mid-on, leaving everyone stunned.

Matthew Lamb’s Bat Breaks Mid-Shot, Results In Comical Dismissal

One Day Cup’s official handle shared the video on X, writing, “Amazing. Matt Lamb's bat snaps in half as he looks to hit the ball over the leg side. The ball finishes in the hands of mid-on, the bat in the hands of midwicket.”

Coming to the match, Derbyshire batted first and set a target of 261 runs for Worcestershire after contributions from Harry Came and Zak Chappell. Harry Came was the top scorer with 71 runs off 104 balls, including one six and five boundaries. Chappell, Luis Reece and Brooke Guest also made valuable contributions, scoring 48, 34 and 20 respectively.

Jack Home was the standout bowler for Worcestershire, taking 6 wickets for 51 runs in 7.4 overs, while Tom Hinley contributed with two wickets. 

Coming to India’s 1st ODI match against Sri Lanka, India are tasked with the target of 231 runs in 50 overs after Sri Lanka chose to bat first and got 230 runs in the first innings. At the time of writing this article, India are 87-3 after 16 overs with Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer at the crease. Rohit Sharma scored a quick fifty but departed after making 58 runs off 47 balls.
