World Record On Debut! 21-Year-Old NZ Star Dominates Pakistan

New Zealand's Mohammad Abbas made a dream start to his international career, smashing the fastest fifty on ODI debut. In NZ vs PAK 1st ODI, the 21-year-old reached the milestone in just 24 balls against Pakistan at McLean Park, breaking the previous record of 26 balls set by India's Krunal Pandya against England in 2021.

While Kiwi star Abbas now holds the overall record, the fastest fifty on debut for Pakistan remains with Nasir Jamshed, who achieved the feat in 40 balls against Zimbabwe in 2008.

Abbas' explosive innings, combined with Mark Chapman's century, helped New Zealand post a commanding 344 runs in the first ODI against Pakistan.

Who is Mohammad Abbas?

Born in Lahore, Pakistan, Abbas comes from a cricketing family. His father, Azhar Abbas, played 45 first-class matches for Pakistan before moving to New Zealand, where he continued his cricketing career. Mohammad Abbas has since represented Auckland and Wellington, and his record-breaking debut has now put him in the international spotlight.

NZ defeated Pakistan by 73 runs in NZ vs PAK 1st ODI. Batting first, New Zealand posted a total of 344/9 in 50 overs. Mark Chapman led the charge with a superb 132 off 111 balls, smashing 13 fours and 6 sixes. His match-winning knock earned him the Player of the Match award.

Daryl Mitchell added a solid 76 runs, while debutant Mohammad Abbas made an instant impact with a quickfire 52.

New Zealand's bowlers complemented the batting effort with a disciplined performance. Nathan Smith was the standout, picking up 4 wickets for 60 runs in 8.1 overs, while Jacob Duffy chipped in with 2/57 in 9 overs. With this win, New Zealand has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against Pakistan.
