Mitchell Marsh Injures Bowling Hand After Punching Dressing Room Wall

Marsh’s bizarre move is a big setback for the Australian cricket team who are desperate for the 27-year-old to cement his place in the Test team

Australia's incumbent all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has put himself in doubts for the first Test of summer after injuring his right hand by hitting a wall when returning to the dressing room after his dismissal for Western Australia against Tasmania in the Sheffield Shield. Marsh’s bizarre move is a big setback for the Australian cricket team who are desperate for the 27-year-old to cement his place in the Test team after his impressive form in the Ashes 2019. The star bowler attained 7/86 in the fifth Ashes Test at The Oval. Marsh couldn’t control his frustrations back in the WA dressing room after he was caught and bowled by Jackson Bird for 53. "Western Australian captain Mitch Marsh injured his hand during (Sunday's) Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania at the WACA ground," said a statement from his team. "Marsh sustained the injury when he struck the wall in the changerooms following his dismissal earlier in the day. "The extent of the injury and a time frame on his return will be determined later this week after further investigation." According to cricket.com.au, Marsh will have scans on his right hand. "We're concerned that he wouldn't have been able to bowl today," said Warriors coach Adam Voges was quoted as saying. "We'll have to wait and see ... all I know is that his hand is sore." Western Australia XI: Sam Whiteman, Cameron Bancroft, Shaun Marsh, Mitchell Marsh (c), Marcus Stoinis, Josh Philippe, Josh Inglis (wk), Ashton Agar, Cameron Green, Jhye Richardson, Joel Paris
