Mitch Marsh Apologises For Punching Act, Says It Won't Happen Again

Agitated by his dismissal against Tasmania in Sheffield Shield, Marsh punched the dressing room wall so hard that he broke his hand

Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has learnt a 'good lesson' after breaking his wrist and getting ruled out due that injury from Sheffield Shield. A day after his naive act made headlines, the cricketer has tendered an apology stating that ‘it won’t happen again.’ “It certainly will be an isolated incident, that's for sure, and it won't be happening again,” Marsh was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au. “It's a good lesson for me, hopefully, it's a good lesson for other people as well. At the end of the day, it's a game of cricket. Sometimes you get beaten, sometimes you get out, and you can't be punching walls,” he added. The 27-year-old, who was wearing a glove when he punched the wall, apologised to his Western Australia teammates after the incident. “It's pretty uncharacteristic of me to want to punch a wall. I'm a pretty easy-going sort of bloke," Marsh said. “I'm just disappointed really - gutted. Just the feeling of letting your teammates down and not being able to be a part of the journey for the next four to six weeks that was the point I wanted to stress to the lads, that I was really sorry and it's not an example I wanted to be setting. What was the incident? While batting against Tasmania on Monday, Marsh got out for 53 in the opening over of the final day of the match when he drove a return catch to Jackson Bird. Agitated by his dismissal, the all-rounder punched the dressing room wall so hard that he sustained a major injury. Later, the scans revealed a broken wrist which will force Marsh to miss cricket for four to six weeks. This also means that he will also miss the start of the Test summer, and there's no guarantee he will win back his spot when he recovers.
