Kieron Pollard Creates History In T20 Cricket, Becomes Second Batter Ever To...

Kieron Pollard's knock of 36 runs from 23 balls, including 2 fours and 3 sixes, helped him etch his name into record books.

Kieron Pollard, the dynamic West Indies all-rounder, has achieved a mega milestone by becoming the second batter in history to hit 900 sixes in T20 cricket. He reached this feat during the ILT20 League in Dubai, where his team MI Emirates faced Desert Vipers. Pollard's knock of 36 runs from 23 balls, including 2 fours and 3 sixes, helped him etch his name into the record books.

Before Pollard, the only player to achieve this record was Chris Gayle, who has blasted 1,056 sixes throughout his T20 career.

Top Players With Most Sixes In T20 Career

Chris Gayle - 1,056 sixes

Kieron Pollard - 901 sixes

Andre Russell - 727 sixes

Nicholas Pooran - 593 sixes

Colin Munro - 550 sixes

Alex Hales - 534 sixes

Rohit Sharma - 525 sixes

Glenn Maxwell - 522 sixes

Jos Buttler - 509 sixes

David Miller - 494 sixes

Kieron Pollard began his T20 journey in 2006 and has since played in 690 matches, averaging 31.23 with a strike rate of 150.38. His career includes 1 century, 60 half-centuries, and two T20 World Cup titles, making him one of the most successful and aggressive players in the format.

Even after years in the game, 37-year-old Pollard continues to be a formidable presence in T20 cricket.

Pollard's legacy with Mumbai Indians in IPL

In 2022, dynamic Caribbean all-rounder Kieron Pollard announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after being released by Mumbai Indians ahead of the mini-auction. He continued his association with MI, taking on the role of batting coach. That same year, he also bid farewell to international cricket.

While Pollard became one of the most successful T20 cricketers of his era, his international career with West Indies didn't achieve the same level of success. Pollard had been part of the Mumbai Indians franchise since 2010, becoming one of the key players for the team over the years.

On the international stage, Pollard played 123 ODIs, scoring 2,706 runs and taking 55 wickets at an average of just over 26. In 101 T20 Internationals, he scored 1,569 runs and took 44 wickets.

A highlight of his career came when he famously hit six sixes in an over off Sri Lanka's Akila Dhananjaya during a T20I. Pollard was also a crucial member of the West Indies team that won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2012. Despite his stellar T20 career, he never had the chance to play Test cricket.
