In a very heart-warming gesture for former Indian skipper MS Dhoni, Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) officials have named the south stand after him. A placard named ‘MS Dhoni Pavilion’ has already been installed at the JSCA stadium- a pure delight to watch, especially for Dhoni fans.
Dhoni has already been honoured by the State’s highest civilian order - Jharkhand Ratna.
Dhoni's presence is crucial to the India's World Cup chances as he is a "guiding" force for current captain Virat Kohli and "important" in decision-making. The World Cup winning captain’s place in the side has been a subject of debate owing to his inconsistent form but many, including former captain Sunil Gavaskar, have said that his tremendous grasp of match situations makes him invaluable.
One of the biggest takeaways from the Australia and New Zealand series was the "art of chasing", which every player should learn from none other than Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Pushed out of their comfort zone by some incisive swing bowling in challenging conditions, a jolted India gained confidence from Dhoni's return during the five-match series against New Zealand.
In a recent interview with ESPNcricinfo, Chief selector MSK Prasad was asked about Dhoni’s current status with respect to the upcoming World Cup 2019. “The way Mahi [Dhoni] has played in the last couple of series, in Australia and New Zealand, the message is very, very clear: now he has decided to play his natural way,” Prasad said, referring to Dhoni's recent form.
Prasad also said the fans will be very happy if the World Cup winning captain can replicate those ‘fearless knocks’. The chief selector was confident that the 12th season of the Indian Premier League scheduled to be played before the World Cup will help him extend his form, he caught on the Australia and New Zealand tours.
