It Was Timely, I Enjoyed It: Chief Selector MSK Prasad On Rayudu's "3D Tweet"
After his selection snub, Ambati Rayudu came up with a sarcastic tweet, taking a jibe at the chairman of selector's choice (Vijay Shankar) that created a huge buzz on social media
The 33-year-old Ambati Rayudu's retirement did not come as a shock after Mayank Agarwal replaced the injured Vijay Shankar in the Indian team for the recently concluded World Cup despite the Hyderabad cricketer being in the list of reserves.
Rayudu’s deserted form led to his exclusion from the initial 15-man squad for World Cup 2019, announced by the BCCI. After his selection snub, Ambati Rayudu came up with a sarcastic tweet, taking a jibe at the chairman of selector's choice (Vijay Shankar) that created a huge buzz on social media.
Rayudu’s 3D reference came a day after the chairman of selectors MSK Prasad cited Shankar's ‘three-dimensional qualities’ to justify his selection ahead of Rayudu.
When asked if India faced defeat in the WC semi-final against the Kiwis because of the number four batsman, MSK Prasad said: "Coming back to the tweet, frankly speaking that was a lovely tweet, I really enjoyed it."
"Seriously, it was a very timely one. I don't know how it struck him but I really enjoyed it," the national chief selector added.
On April 16, Rayudu had tweeted: "Just Ordered a new set of 3d glasses to watch the world cup."
A career that almost always fell apart after promising to fall into place -- Ambati Rayudu will be remembered as someone who could not live up to his rare cricketing talent, undone by a mercurial demeanour that often led to run-ins with authorities. His cricketing journey ended abruptly on Wednesday after a heart-breaking and baffling World Cup snub. In his mail to the BCCI, the usually outspoken Rayudu chose not to blame anyone and instead thanked the captains he played under.Just Ordered a new set of 3d glasses to watch the world cup 😉😋..
