IPL Eliminator: Rohit Sharma Just 2 Sixes Away From Creating History

Rohit Sharma, famously known as the "Hitman," has always been celebrated for his explosive six-hitting abilities.

The stage is heating up in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have already sealed their spot in the final after defeating Punjab Kings.

All eyes are now on the high-voltage Eliminator match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI), scheduled to take place today, May 30, at Mullanpur. For Mumbai, veteran batter Rohit Sharma brings not just experience but the chance to script history.

Just 2 sixes way from rare milestone

Rohit Sharma, famously known as the "Hitman," has always been celebrated for his explosive six-hitting abilities. So far in his IPL career, Rohit has played 270 matches, smashing 298 sixes. Now, he stands just two sixes away from becoming only the second player in IPL history to hit 300 sixes.

If Rohit reaches the landmark in today's eliminator, he will join a very exclusive club.

Chris Gayle leads six-hitting charts

Currently, the record for most sixes in Indian Premier League (IPL) history is held by Chris Gayle, with an astonishing 357 sixes. While that record may still be out of reach for now, Rohit's consistency keeps him firmly in contention over the next season or two.

Virat Kohli also in the race

Interestingly, Virat Kohli is also eyeing the 300-sixes milestone. With 291 sixes in 265 matches, Kohli is 9 sixes away from the landmark. As RCB prepares for the final, Kohli has one last chance this season to inch closer - though hitting 9 sixes in a single match remains a tough ask.

Will Rohit make it tonight?

As Mumbai Indians take the field in a do-or-die match, fans will be watching Rohit closely. With the added motivation of a personal record, he could turn the Eliminator into a historic night for both himself and his team.
