Watch: Violent Fan Brawl Mars LSG vs DC Clash In Lucknow

The incident added an unfortunate off-field controversy to what was otherwise a competitive encounter.

The IPL 2026 clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium was marred by disturbing scenes in the stands, as a physical altercation broke out among spectators.

Videos of the incident quickly spread across social media, showing fans engaged in a heated argument that escalated into a full-fledged brawl inside the stadium.

While the exact cause of the clash remains unclear, security personnel and police intervened promptly to bring the situation under control and separate those involved. The incident added an unfortunate off-field controversy to what was otherwise a competitive encounter.

DC Secure Comfortable Win

On the field, Lucknow Super Giants struggled with the bat and were bowled out for a modest total of 141. In response, Delhi Capitals chased down the target with ease, thanks to composed performances from Tristan Stubbs and Sameer Rizvi, sealing the victory with more than two overs remaining.

Kevin Pietersen Questions Pant’s Opening Move

Meanwhile, former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen raised concerns over Rishabh Pant’s decision to open the innings for LSG in this match. Pant promoted himself to the top of the order but had a short stay at the crease, falling victim to an unfortunate run-out at the non-striker’s end after a shot from Mitchell Marsh deflected onto the stumps.

Pietersen believes that Pant may have put unnecessary pressure on himself by moving up the order, especially considering his struggles with the bat in the previous season. He suggested that Pant should focus on enjoying his natural batting position rather than forcing a change.

Pant’s Recent Form Under Scrutiny

Pant, who became the most expensive player in IPL history when LSG signed him for ₹27 crore, had a mixed campaign last season. Although he managed to score a century, his overall performance did not quite justify the hefty price tag. The century came at a stage when LSG were already out of playoff contention, limiting its impact.

Across 13 matches last season, Pant scored 269 runs at an average of 24.45, a return that fell short of expectations for a player of his caliber. His form continues to be closely watched as the tournament progresses.
