India Faces India A In Warm-Up Ahead Of England Series

Team India will play a warm-up match against India A as part of their preparations before starting their WTC campaign in England.

India will begin their World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 campaign with a five-match Test series against England starting from June 20 at Headingley, Leeds. The Test matches will be played at Birmingham, Lord's, Manchester, and The Oval in London.

Before the Test series, Team India will play a practice match against India A on June 13 at Beckenham, a ground managed by Kent County Cricket Club.

The match will be held behind closed doors and will not be broadcast. This will be the only warm-up game before the series, and no matches are planned against county teams, as reported by cricbuzz.

New WTC Cycle begins: India needs strong start against England

IND vs ENG Test series 2025 is crucial for India to start the new WTC cycle, as in the previous cycle, India failed to qualify for the final of the Test Championship after being whitewashed at home in a three-match series against New Zealand and losing a crucial away series to Australia by 3-1.

The poor performance raised questions about the form and fitness of many senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The England tour will be a big test for them, especially since India hasn’t won a Test series in England since 2007. In 2021-22, India drew the series in England.

India A will also play two four-day matches against the England Lions from May 30 to June 2 and from June 6 to 9.

IPL 2025 is scheduled to conclude on May 25. Players who are in India’s red-ball circuit and whose IPL teams do not qualify for the playoffs are expected to be part of the India A squad for these matches. These games will give them a chance to get used to English conditions ahead of the main series.

The Indian squad for the tour is likely to be announced in May. It remains to be seen whether Rohit Sharma will continue as captain after the team’s underwhelming WTC performance.
