Team India Stranded In Barbados As Hurricane Beryl Disrupts Their Travel Plans
Indian cricket team have been left stranded in Barbados as Hurricane Beryl hits the country.
Team India are stuck in Barbados owing to an intense hurricane, Hurricane Beryl, hitting the country. The Indian cricket team has been confined to their hotel in Barbados as the airport remains closed. This comes after India defeated South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on June 29. This World Cup win, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, marked India’s first ICC championship trophy in 11 years, after Champions Trophy 2013.
The Indian team is currently staying at the Hilton Hotel in Bridgetown as per an ESPNCricinfo report. They were initially scheduled to take a charter plane straight to India but the airport has been closed since Sunday evening. South Africa, on the other hand, had left earlier on Sunday.

Curfew-Like Situation In Barbados?
Indian journalist Vikrant Gupta took to social media and said that the Barbados airport has closed, leading to a curfew-like situation where no one is permitted to leave. Hurricane Beryl, now upgraded to Category 4. The Indian cricket team remains confined indoors at their hotel, uncertain about their travel plans for the next 24 hours amid the evolving situation.
“So the Barbados airport has been shut. It’s now a curfew like situation and nobody is allowed to step out. Hurricane Beryl is expected to hit in the next 6 hours. Already started drizzling. Beryl upgraded to Category 4 (the second most severe). Team India to stay indoors, packed in their hotel. Nobody knows what’s in store the next 24 hours. Unsure about travel plans,” Vikrant Gupta shared on X early in the morning on JUly 1.
