IND vs SA, 3rd T20I: A Look At Major Milestones Which Can Be Attained

Rohit Sharma (97 T20Is) will become India’s joint most capped T20I player on Sunday when he takes to the field against South Africa in the 3rd T20 at Mohali.

India will take on South Africa in the third and final game of the 3-match T20 Series at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru later in the evening . The ''Men in Blue' would look to continue their winning streak from the 2nd T20I in Mohali and aim to wrap up the series 2-0. India inflicted a seven wicket win over South Africa in the second encounter of the series at Mohali to take an unassailable 1-0 lead in the series. Skipper Kohli led the India chase with an unbeaten 72 after Deepak Chahar spearheaded an impressive bowling effort to restrict South Africa to below par 149-run total at the PCA Stadium. While India had most of their bases covered, the visitors need someone to step up the game after skipper Quinton De Kock looked to be the lone warrior in an otherwise dismal batting effort at Mohali. India have the edge over South Africa winning 9 off the 14 T20 international encounters played between the two teams in the past. • Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan who has scored 6,996 runs in T20 career is just four runs away to complete 7,000 T20 runs. He will be the fourth Indian batsman and 15th overall batsman to reach the 7,000 runs milestone.
• Rohit Sharma is just eight runs away from overtaking Indian skipper Virat Kohli as leading run getter in T20 internationals. Rohit is second on the list of highest run scorers in T20 internationals with 2,434 runs from 89 innings, while Kohli stands atop the list with 2,441 runs from 66 innings.
• Rohit Sharma (97 T20Is) will become India’s joint most capped T20I player on Sunday when he takes to the field against South Africa in the 3rd T20 at Mohali. Rohit will equal MS Dhoni’s 98 T20I appearances for India. Only Shoaib Malik (11) and Shahid Afridi (99) played more T20Is than Dhoni and Rohit till date.
• South African skipper Quinton de Kock needs 61 more runs to become the 6th player to register 1000 T20I runs for South Africa. The fifty in Mohali T20I was only the 3rd in 37-match T20I career for De Kock.
• Quinton de Kock has scored 4,988 runs in T20 career. The left-handed batsman needs to score 12 more runs to reach the 5,000 runs milestone. Till the date, five South African cricketers have scored 5,000+ T20 runs.
• Indian pace-bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya has taken 14 T20I wickets at home, which is the joint-second most home T20I wickets for an Indian pace bowler. Former Indian left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra also took 14 home wickets in T20I career. Another wicket will help Hardik to surpass Nehra in this list.
