IND Vs ENG: R Ashwin May Replace Shardul Thakur In Playing 11, Will It Be Game-Changing Move?

IND Vs ENG: India will have to change playing 11 due to Shardul Thakur's injury. There is a high possibility of R Ashwin's inclusion in the team which can prove a game-changer.

IND Vs ENG: The second match of the five-match series between India and England is set to begin today. Shardul Thakur's injury ahead of the second Test has added to India's woes. According to reports, India's number one spinner R Ashwin is set to get a chance in playing 11 in place of Shardul Thakur.

Team India captain Virat Kohli has informed that Shardul Thakur has been dropped from the second Test. The captain said, "Shardul is injured. Shardul Thakur was bowling well in the first Test. But now he will not be a part of the second Test. But we sincerely hope that Shardul Thakur will be available for selection in the third Test.''

There are indications of R Ashwin's return in place of Shardul Thakur. Ashwin was dropped from the first Test despite being in superb form. One of the reasons why Shardul Thakur was included in the first Test was his brilliant batting in Brisbane. Since Ashwin also has the ability to show wonders with the bat, his chances of return are strong.

Ashwin may prove to be game-changer

Conditions at Lord's are favourable for spinners. England entered the first Test without a spinner. But England has included Moeen Ali in the squad for the second Test. Obviously, England has taken this decision after taking into account the pitch conditions. R Ashwin could prove to be a game-changer for India in the second Test.

Team India, however, has more options to replace Shardul Thakur. If skipper Virat Kohli stands by the decision to field with four fast bowlers, then Ishant Sharma or Umesh Yadav may get a chance in the playing 11.

IND Vs ENG: Virat Kohli's performance at Lord's is very poor, team India's woes are on the rise
