IND vs ENG Day 3: Three Key Moves That Can Seal Lord's Test Win For India

On the second day of the Lord's Test, KL Rahul returned to the pavilion unbeaten on 53 and Rishabh Pant on 19.

The Lord's Test match being played between India and England is progressing in an exciting manner. While the England team scored 387 runs in their first innings, India reached 143/3 by the end of the second day's play.

Now, if Team India wants to strengthen its hold on the match on the third day, then a big score will have to be put on the board at all costs; otherwise, this match could tilt in England's favor.

Rishabh Pant-KL Rahul's partnership will be important

On the second day of the Lord's Test, KL Rahul returned to the pavilion unbeaten on 53 and Rishabh Pant on 19.

This means both set batters will take the field on Day 3. In such a situation, England would look to make a comeback by dismissing KL and Pant early.

On the other hand, for India to gain the upper hand in the match, both batters will have to stand strong against the English bowlers and keep the scoreboard ticking. This will help India move towards a big first-innings total.

Team India will have to put a big score on the board

Team India is currently in a good position in the Lord's Test, and if their batters continue to build from here, the team’s position can be further strengthened. Therefore, India’s batting unit must try their best to post a big score in the first innings to make things easier in the second half of the game.

If India manages to gain a first-innings lead over England, the advantage will tilt in favor of Shubman Gill and company. However, as things stand, India is at 145/3 and still trails England by 242 runs.

The tailenders will have to contribute

While the main batters of Team India are expected to score the bulk of the runs, the tailenders will also need to chip in with useful contributions to help build a sizeable total.

However, such support from the lower order has not been evident in this series so far. In this scenario, expectations will be on the tailenders to step up and add some crucial runs with the bat to push India closer to England’s total.
