Ind Vs Eng 5th Test, Day 3: Records Tumble In Rescheduled Test As Bumrah, Pant Script History
Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant have set new records as India looks in formidable position to win the test match and series.
India, at the stumps of Day 3, has a formidable lead of 257 runs as India’s second innings score is at 125/3. India looks in a commanding position in the test as the Jasprit Bumrah-led side has done a fair bit of work with both bat and ball. The test saw many records tumble during its three days as we have all of them to look at:
- Most Expensive Over: Jasprit Bumrah, out of nowhere, gave all the cricketing fans around the world flashbacks of World T20 2007 as he smashed Stuard Broad for 35 runs off an over. Coincidentally, it was Stuart Broad who conceded the most runs off an over in a T20I as he got smacked for 6-sixes off an over by Yuvraj Singh in one of the iconic moments in the cricketing history witnessed at Durban in South Africa. The previous record was held by George Bailey, who smashed James Anderson for 28 runs off an over at WACA in Perth, Australia.
- Fastest Test Century By An Indian Wicketkeeper: Rishabh Pant hit the fastest ever century by an Indian wicketkeeper in Tests as he hit an 89-ball century. The previous record was held by legendary cricketer and captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The record stood for 17 years as Dhoni scored a 93-ball century against Pakistan in Faisalabad in 2005.
- Fastest Test Century At Edgbaston: Rishabh Pant, with his century, also broke Kevin Pietersen’s record for the fastest test century scored at Edgbaston.
- Rishabh Pant also became the youngest wicketkeeper to cross the 2,000-run mark in Tests.
- Highest 6th Wicket Partnership in Tests for India against England: Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja put on a 222-run partnership as India recovered from 98/5, in the process, Rishabh Pant became the only Indian wicketkeeper to score two centuries in Test cricket, in England.
- Most wickets taken by an India bowler during a Test series in England: Jasprit Bumrah made another record as he scalped 21 wickets to become the bowler with the most wickets taken by an India bowler during a Test series in England. The previous record was held by Bhuvneshwar Kumar when he took 19 wickets against England in 2014.
