IND vs ENG 4th Test Ends In Draw, India Keep Series Hopes Alive

The draw means that IND vs ENG five-match Test series remains open, with England leading 2-1. The fifth and final Test now becomes a must-win game for India if they want to level the series.

The fourth Test between India and England at Old Trafford, Manchester, concluded in a draw, keeping the five-match series alive and heading for a thrilling decider. After five days of intense battle, neither side could force a result, with the pitch offering limited assistance to bowlers on the final day.

Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar rose to the occasion with determined centuries, steering India to safety in the final session of Day 5 and securing a draw in the fourth Test at Manchester. Their marathon partnership of over 200 runs spanned more than five sessions, showcasing remarkable composure under pressure.

While Washington Sundar notched up his maiden Test century, Ravindra Jadeja created history by becoming the first Indian batter to register two Test hundreds in England while batting at No. 6 or lower.

The draw means that the series remains open, with England leading 2-1. The fifth and final Test now becomes a must-win game for India if they want to level the series and keep their World Test Championship hopes strong. For England, a win in the final match would seal the series and offer sweet redemption after recent overseas setbacks.

Gill-Rahul stand led India's fightback

India ended their second innings at 425 for 4 after 143 overs, prompting both teams to agree to a draw. The foundation for India’s comeback was laid by skipper Shubman Gill, whose classy hundred helped erase a daunting 311-run deficit. His resilient 417-ball partnership with KL Rahul, who narrowly missed a century with 90, proved crucial in steadying the innings.

Gill’s knock was historic, making him the first Indian to register four Test centuries in a single series on English soil. His calm leadership and consistency with the bat have been standout features of India’s campaign.

With this result, England maintain their 2-1 lead heading into the fifth and final Test. India, however, will take confidence from their spirited fightback and hope to level the series in the decider.
