Lara makes the list again, thanks to his 375-run effort, also against England. This was the previous world record before he broke it himself in 2004.

4. Mahela Jayawardene – 374 vs South Africa (2006)

Sri Lankan legend Jayawardene displayed immense concentration and skill to compile 374 off 572 balls, with 43 fours and 1 six.
