IND vs BAN, 2nd Test: Kohli Breaks Dhoni's Record With 7th Consecutive Test Win As Skipper
Under skipper Virat Kohli's captaincy, India won their 7th consecutive Test match post securing an innings defeat over Bangladesh in the Day-Night Eden Gardens Test
India trounced Bangladesh by innings and 46 runs to win their maiden Day-Night Test at the Eden Gardens and extend their dominance in Test cricket on home soil. India won their seventh consecutive Test on the trot after bowling out the visitors for paltry 195 for 9 in front of a full house at Eden Gardens on Sunday.
Under skipper Virat Kohli's captaincy , it was India's 7th successive Test victory since beating the West Indies in Antigua three months back in August. India's 7th straight win in the longer format helped them better their longest winning streak of six Tests under the leadership of MS Dhoni's leadership in 2013 (February-November) which saw the team winning four Test against Australia and two versus the West Indies.
India also recorded their record-extending 12th home series win. They had already surpassed Australia for 10 successive wins after whitewashing South Africa 3-0 to taste their 11th consecutive Test victory on home soil. With the Test win against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens, Virat Kohli now has record-extending 11 innings win. He had surpassed MS Dhoni (9) when India defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs in Indore. Mohammed Azharuddin had 8 innings wins followed by Sourav Ganguly with 7. Virat Kohli also went past Australia skipper Allan Border's tally of 32 Test wins and is now fifth on the list of captains with most victories in the longest format. Former South Africa captain Graeme Smith is on top with 53 wins from 109 matches. Ricky Ponting is second with 48 wins in 77 matches while Steve Waugh is third with 41 wins in 57 matches. Also, India became the only team in the history of Test cricket to win four consecutive Tests by an innings margin. This is #TeamIndia's 7 straight Test win in a row, which is our longest streak 🙌💪😎#PinkBallTest @Paytm pic.twitter.com/Lt2168Qidn
